Project Overview
Othick Property Services was appointed by the Mulgrave Estate to remove and replace the existing roof of a traditional property, with the work required to meet National Park planning and conservation requirements.
As a long-standing and valued customer, the Mulgrave Estate also entrusted us with the complete management of the project, coordinating the various elements of the work from initial preparation through to completion.
The replacement roof was constructed using traditional materials, including handmade roof tiles, helping to preserve the character and appearance of the historic property while providing a durable new roof.
The Challenge
Replacing the roof of a traditional property involves considerably more than simply removing the existing tiles and installing a new covering.
The property sits within the North York Moors National Park, meaning the project had to comply with specific planning and conservation requirements. The replacement roof needed to be sympathetic to the existing building and its surroundings, while using appropriate traditional materials to retain its character.
There was also a need to carefully coordinate the various elements of the project. Scaffolding, roofing works and the overall programme all needed to be managed effectively to minimise disruption and ensure the work was completed to the required standard.
The Solution
The existing roof was removed and replaced in accordance with the relevant National Park planning and conservation requirements. Traditional materials were specified for the new roof, including hand-made roof tiles selected to complement the character of the existing property.
As part of the managed service, Othick arranged the necessary scaffolding and coordinated the programme of works, ensuring the different stages of the project were properly organised.
This approach meant the Mulgrave Estate had a single point of contact throughout the project, with Othick overseeing the work and managing the practical requirements needed to deliver the roof replacement efficiently.
The Results
The completed roof provides the property with a renewed, durable covering while retaining the traditional appearance and character that are so important to buildings of this nature.
